Description

Position Overview

  • The Production Line Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining different areas on the Production Line including but not limited to these roles: Blow Mold, Filler, Forklift, Label Machine, End of Line and Palletizer.

Schedule:

The Production Line Operator I is a part-time position. Waiakea Inc. is currently hiring for daytime and overnight positions that work with our 24/7 Production schedule. Part-time schedules are based on availability and will be coordinated weekly with the management team.

Essential Job Functions (Operators will be stationed at one of the specific machines below):

Filler Operator

  • Set up water filling machine, readying it for production
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled products to standards. Adjust machine as necessary to gain or maintain compliance
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, troubleshooting as necessary and communicating with supervision and maintenance as necessary
  • Record production and test data regularly, cycle time, and total bottles filled during shift
  • Replenish packaging supplies, such as caps, gloves, and cleaning supplies
  • Perform regular product quality checks, ensuring product meets specifications
  • Perform basic machine cleaning procedures

Blow Mold Operator

  • Understands blowing process and adjusts the equipment process to produce a quality bottle and prevent defects
  • Diagnoses and corrects operation issues i.e., broken oven lamps, incorrectly fed preforms, discharge jams, etc.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of raw materials for the machine
  • Ensures that the machine and associated equipment is changed over in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Understands the equipment flow process/standard work order process
  • Accesses, understands, monitors, and corrects machine alarm conditions

Label Machine Operator

  • Check labels on bottles periodically
  • Ensure labels match the product currently running
  • Ensure/verify laser code is correct
  • Pull damaged labels and bottles off the line
  • Load labels on machine when needed
  • Document product start times and label rolls used per shift
  • Ensure we labels are properly applied every 20 minutes by visually inspecting random bottles leaving the labeler
  • When changing products must complete a process changeover form to ensure changeover is complete

End of Production Line Operator

  • Operates and maintains end of line Case Packer and Palletizer
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate End of Line stations of assigned production line effectively and safely
  • Efficiently inspects cases for proper gluing by conducting a tare test every hour
  • Clear product jams for production line
  • Ensures cases are properly stacked on pallets
  • Load boxes onto case erector
  • Fill glue pots for box former and closer

Requirements

  • Complies with all standard safety practices, safety rules, good manufacturing practices and all other company rules and requirements.
  • Required to continuously stand, walk, reach with arms & hands
  • Required to continuously use hands to handle product, materials, and machine
  • Required to frequently twist, bend, stoop, lift, climb and balance
  • Required to frequently lift and or move 10-20 pounds, lift and or move 20-30 pounds with reasonable accommodation, lift and or move 40-50 pounds with the aid of a co-worker and/or reasonable accommodations

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a GED/high school education (preferred); or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
