Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Boston Children’s Hospital Trust is the philanthropic resource for the hospital which provides vital funds to support our cutting edge research, community outreach, patient family programs and medical education.
The Development Assistant supports members of the Corporate Relations team at Boston Children’s Hospital Trust. Using a broad understanding of the department’s fundraising philosophy, they employ a number of administrative, organization and communication skills in helping to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.

Key Responsibilities: the Development Assistant, Corporate Relations will:

  • Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of fundraising and development activities.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and effectively manage multiple tasks while maintaining a composed and professional demeanor. 
  • Help manage team calendars and schedule internal and external appointments and meetings with donors, doctors, volunteers, trustees, and hospital staff. Reserve and prepare conference rooms and manage logistics for donor visits.
  • Develop proficiency in the donor database for the corporate team, ensuring accurate and timely input of information.
  • Oversee the gift process, from initial booking through to acknowledgment and payment coordination, while collaborating closely with various teams across the Trust..
  • Assist team with online proposal submissions and donor stewardship activities that may include; compiling reports, coordinating hospital visits/receptions, assisting with PR/Social Media coordination to acknowledge corporate gifts and involvement, among other activities.
  • Attend departmental and donor meetings as needed.
  • Assist supervisor with special projects and preparation of reports and documents as needed.
  • Assist supervisor and team with special projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience/Education:
  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree and 4 years of fundraising related work experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and would replace the experience requirement
  • Volunteer or intern fundraising experience is a plus
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Critical thinking skills/ability to communicate professionally
