Software Engineer - Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy

Ford is in the middle of a Supply Chain Transformation. One of the key focus areas to enable this transformation is to ensure there is a robust technology strategy and roadmap for the new software tools being implemented for n-tiers supply chain visibility, traceability and sustainability through collaboration while adhering to industry standards in order to increase adoption of new technologies.
In this role, you will help drive the exploration and evaluation of new technologies, solutions, and industry standards (e.g., Catena-X) and investigate their integration opportunities with the ecosystem. You will help explore the technology, vendor and solutions landscape and deliver the roadmap for long-term capabilities for a connected, sustainable supply chain.
Position Duties
- Lead in the creation and implementation of IT solutions to meet the functional & nonfunctional requirements of the long-term capabilities and use-cases of supply chain digitization
- Experiment with external, third-party tools and standards (e.g., Catena-X, Eclipse Dataspace Connectors) and explore their integration opportunity with Ford source systems and applications
- Research and develop rapid digital prototypes to prove out new concepts, use-cases, and tools
- Interact with external (suppliers, vendors, competitors) and internal technical peers (Product Designers and Managers, Software Engineers, Architects, Vendors) to co-develop the solutions
- Coordinate with application architects to validate solution designs with a focus on the reliability and stability of the product. Contribute to developing solutions that are optimized for performance, scalability, security, and analytics integration
- Contribute to maintaining an evolving backlog and enable the group to go further with effective usage of Rally/Jira. Participate in triage and debugging for systems/tools integration issues
Required Skills
- Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information technology or a technology related field
- 2+ years of programming experience in at least two highly utilized programming languages and tools, i.e., C++/C#, Java, Python, R, HTML5, JavaScript, Node.js, etc.
- 2+ years of experience with frontend web frameworks such as React, Angular, etc.
- 2+ years of experience with scripting and SQL / NoSQL databases
- 2+ years of experience with cloud application development with GCP / Azure / AWS / PCF
- 1+ years of experience working with CI/CD systems (e.g., Gitlab / Jenkins)
- Proven, demonstrable experience in developing and managing high availability, scalable applications using toolkits such as Spring Boot, Git, Docker, RESTful APIs, DevOps tools
- Experience with emerging technologies such as AI/ML frameworks (like TensorFlow, Caffe, Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn), Industrial IoT / Industry 4.0, etc.
The ideal candidate will have a background in software development and a familiarity and curiosity with various technology platforms and industry standards. The candidate will also have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to share findings with various stakeholders, business partners and leadership levels. They will possess strong analytical and problem solving skills, and demonstrate aptitude for research, brainstorming, learning, and creating new technologies, processes, and solutions. The candidate would enjoy collaborating within and across skill teams, and be able to build and maintain strong positive relationships with business, technology partners, and team members.

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent
- Prior Experience in delivering solutions for Manufacturing or Supply Chain
