Senior Data Engineer, Full Stack

About UsAt Matterworks we are building AI tools to extract insights from the ever-growing corpora of biological data and to unlock opportunities in therapeutic discovery, development, and manufacturing. We are building large-scale deep learning models of biological data to predict the phenotype and behavior of biological systems.
Matterworks is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with experience supporting AI workloads. You will join an interdisciplinary team, collaborating directly with our scientists, machine learning researchers, fellow software engineers, and product team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire development process from user problem to value delivery.
• Collaborate with scientific cross-functional team members to develop transformative products.
• Incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve our software.
• Address technical challenges and drive pragmatic problem-solving efforts in an early-stage environment.
• Contribute to overall technical direction and software architecture.

About You

• 5+ years of professional experience developing data pipelines.
• Industry experience in life sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field.
• Proficiency in agile development, with a demonstrated ability to deliver value iteratively.
• Strong attention to detail with a keen ability to balance priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems.
• A passion for contributing to an early-stage startup where autonomy, eagerness to learn, and enthusiasm for solving novel scientific challenges prevail over rigid processes and egos.
