Position Summary:   MOT is a small school on a mission to provide a 21st  century education to all students.   As an elementary teacher, you will engage and support students and teachers with a first class learning experience that maximizes their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development, including the development of their ability to apply their intellect to solving problems and contribute to their communities as enlightened and responsible citizens.


Performance Responsibilities:

  • Support and fully participate in a school culture that focuses on student learning.
  • Effectively plan and organize for instruction by working together with regular education teachers and special education teachers as needed and sharing information and insight about student growth/needs.
  • Communicate with teachers and parents about the needs and progress of the student.
  • Maintain communication logs and progress monitoring data for each student.
  • Participate in IEP meetings that are responsive to student's needs, respectful and inclusive of the parents and their concerns, and in compliance with all MOT and State of Delaware processes and procedures.
  • Motivate students and set high expectations and demonstrating sensitivity to different learning styles.
  • Demonstrate genuine concern for students in a climate characterized by high personal and student expectations.
  • Promote good citizenship as a leader and act in accordance with the highest professional and ethical principles.
  • Use technology effectively for work tasks and communications.
  • Continually strive to improve classroom methods, teaching techniques, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Display pride and positive approach when participating in the school culture. Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings and on committees as requested.
  • Identify and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Have superior written and oral communications skills, ability to work on multiple projects and have ability to accurately/timely respond to requests and deadlines.
  • Adhere to all student and personnel school policies as outlined in the MOT Charter School Family Handbook and the Employee Manual. Share a commitment to the success of the mission, goals, and objectives of the MOT Charter School.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, board members, parents, students, the Department of Education, and the larger M.O.T. community and motivate/create a shared vision within MOT Charter School.


Required Education/Skills: 

  • Successful candidates will have an Elementary Education Teacher Certification from the State of Delaware and be High Qualified.
  • Dual certification in regular education and special education preferred.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Criminal background check, Tuberculin Testing and Health Verification.
