Overview:

The Inventive Science discipline is part of a technical career program designed for employees who are working on new and emerging technologies AND who have made a significant commitment to their education by earning at least a 4-year degree in specified STEM areas. Employees must meet specific educational and experience requirements to move into and within these disciplines.

Applies extensive technical expertise to new projects and develops technical solutions to complex problems that require the use of ingenuity and creativity. Use of this title is limited to AT&T Labs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develops solutions to complex business and technical problems or issues of complex scope using expert level engineering and scientific principles that have significant impact on research projects.
• Applies engineering principles and practice in broad areas of complex technical project work that requires in-depth analysis using advanced techniques, knowledge, and expertise.
• Performs original research or innovative thinking to develop new technologies, algorithms, methodologies, software or architectures either individually or within project teams. When formulating decisions, this position considers past practices to solve problems and extend precedents.
• This position is accountable for complex or advanced work, contributes to the refinement of principles and concepts that provide AT&T with advantages in the marketplace. Is considered a recognized expert in a bounded domain. This is an independent contributor who determines and pursues course of action necessary to achieve results, working jointly with and provides technical leadership to technical research contractors/consultants on projects.

Education and Experience:

• PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Our Principal Inventive Scientists earn between $180,200.00 - $270,400.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
