Join Our Team as a Senior Safety Specialist / Engineer

to work in Ponsse Group People, Safety & Culture team in North America.

Do you have passion for developing health, safety, and wellbeing? Do you have the expertise to develop and implement safety policies and procedures? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as part of the world’s largest manufacturer of cut-to-length forest machines at Ponsse North America!

As a Senior Safety Specialist / Engineer, you will be part of Ponsse’s Global Safety Team and Develop Ponsse Safety capabilities within your area in North America, managing safety roadmap and contributing to safety strategy. In this position you will work closely with our People Partners and safety colleagues along with business leaders to ensure safety practices and guidelines are followed in your own area. You will be sharing learnings and best practices in systematic way to organization, to ensure our people leaders are well equipped to take care of the safety in their own area.  Also, you will ensure the follow-up and coverage of the safety standards and other applicable measurements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management locally and globally to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and trainings.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety regulations, standards, and other requirements.
  • Support global audit processes and safety event investigations.
  • Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards and new hire orientations.
  • Prepare monthly reports and manage annual budget requests related to health, safety, and environment.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Occupational health and safety, Engineering, or other relevant education.​
  • Excellent knowledge of OSHA standards and current company safety policies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, matrix organization.
  • Formal training and certificates in Safety are preferred.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Valid driver's license.

You are proactive, creative and take initiative and ideate and you pay attention to detail, and you work well under pressure.​ You also have strong problem-solving skills to solve problems and work in a diverse team and see solutions rather than problems. ​

You will be part of the Ponsse’s Group People, Safety & Culture team, reporting to Global Safety Manager and working closely with the team globally across the Ponsse countries and subsidiaries. Your working location will be in North America Rhinelander. Some amount of travelling, also international, will be required in this role.
