Position Summary
The Senior Vice President, Binding Authority Underwriting is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of binding authority underwriting including strategic leadership, risk assessment and the development of underwriting policies and procedures to ensure profitability and compliance with regular stakeholders. The role collaborates with key stakeholders including brokers and reinsurers to cultivate and maintain strong business relationships. They play a crucial role in driving underwriting excellence, implementing innovative solutions, and contributing to the overall growth and success of the organization.What will your job entail?
Job Responsibilities:
• Develops a forward-looking, global, and enduring strategy for Ryan Specialty's underwriting business, formulates a visionary plan to drive significant growth and establishes a prominent position in the industry.
• Represents the underwriting business in the Executive leadership, taking ownership of financial outcomes and providing counsel on decisions that extend beyond the underwriting business.
• Partners with Ryan Specialty's executive leadership team, fostering alignment and driving strategic initiatives across the organization.
• Provides direction and leadership to the team and develops strategic plans aligning with the organization's overall goals.
• Oversees the underwriting of binding authority business, assesses risks associated with insurance policies ensuring underwriting guidelines to maintain a profitable book of business.
• Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders collaborating with other departments to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to business development.
• Recruits, develops, and mentors underwriting staff providing guidance and training to enhance skills and knowledge of the underwriting team.
• Manages financial performance developing and monitoring budgets, analyze financial reports, and implements strategies to achieve financial targets.
• Drives the financial outcomes of the function, influencing the overall performance of the organization.
Work Experience and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; Business Administration, Risk Management, Finance preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in Insurance Industry, Underwriting or a related field.
Licenses & Certifications:
• Prescribed: Minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses
• Preferred: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
