Staff Full Stack Developer - Simulation

About the Role:

TuSimple develops the most advanced and comprehensive self driving solutions for autonomous trucks. Our Simulation team is seeking a talented Full Stack Software Staff Engineer with experience in developing sophisticated web applications. This role will develop interactive Front-end tools and scalable backend services as part of our Simulation Platform to validate our Self-Driving systems. This Developer will gain a full suite of software experience by working in software design, implementation, integration, and verification. We encourage our Engineers to take ownership over technical and product decisions by working closely with users to collect feedback.

What You Will Do:

• Develop sophisticated, interactive web applications.
• Develop robust and scalable web services.
• Design and implement system architecture for your projects, provide feedback to other team members.
• Help improve our engineering process and software quality by participating in engineering design reviews, code reviews, unit tests, CI/CD process, etc.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to our technology, algorithms and products.
• Work with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate that into a pragmatic and effective technical solution.
• Dive into difficult problems and successfully deliver results on schedule.

What You Will Need:

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree is required for this role. 
• At least 8 years of directly related experience in full stack software development.
• Strong programming skills in developing web applications using JavaScript and React framework or Vue.
• Strong programming skills in at least one of the popular languages for developing web service backend, such as Java, Python, or Golang.
• Strong knowledge in software service architecture design, know how to create software that’s extensible, reusable and meets desired architectural objectives.
• Strong knowledge in data persistence technologies such as Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
• Experience with developing web services using Kubernetes.
• Experience with troubleshooting performance and scalability bottlenecks and developing technical solutions.
• Good communication skills and team player.

What Is Preferred: 

• Ability to work in TuSimple’s Sunnyvale Office at least one day per week is highly preferred for this role. 
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science is highly desirable.
• Experience with developing simulation software.
• Experience with developing self driving software.
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS.
