Job Description
As a member of the Utility and Energy Operations team, the Medium Voltage Engineering Manager (MVEM) will support the Rahway Campus as the medium voltage (1KV – 69KV) subject matter expert. The MVEM will ensure safe and reliable design, operation, and maintenance of all medium voltage electrical equipment. The MVE will also be responsible for executing utility and energy projects, maintaining system design basis, troubleshooting systems nonconformances, and supporting medium and long-range utility planning.
We are seeking a self-motivated, independent engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to provide engineering support for our campus facilities. The successful candidate will pay attention to detail, have a quality mindset, be customer-focused, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
The primary activities include and are not limited to the following:
The MVEM will be the Subject Matter Expert for all medium voltage equipment and processes including electrical generation, conductors, switch gears, relays protection, breakers, MCCs, and electrical testing.
Review and develop electrical operating procedures to support operations, projects, and maintenance.
Handle various projects related to electrical and utility infrastructure.
Address system nonconformances and address system deficiencies in a proactive manner.
Work cross-functionally to coordinating with different departments and external partners.
Work with maintenance teams on preventative and corrective tasks.
Establish systems and processes to measure and drive performance and improvement.
Ensure compliance with Company, municipal, state, federal, and industrial medium voltage requirements.
Investigate complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
Develop and implement initiatives to support the corporate sustainability vision.
Support the low voltage electrical team.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
High School
Required Experience and Skills:
At least 8 years in the design, operation, and maintenance of medium voltage systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of engineering application i.e., AutoCAD, SKM, and ETAP.
Working knowledge of NFPA and NEC standards.
Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Lean Six Sigma, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, or reliability engineering.
Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA
NJ Electrical License
Arch Flash NFPA 70E
Preferred Experience and Skills:
New Jersey Boiler License
Professional Engineering License or PMP
