Junior Business Analyst
DSV Air & Sea is seeking an analytical team-oriented Junior Analyst to join our team. This is a full-time position, entry level, and is a great opportunity to develop a career within the transportation logistics industry.
Junior Analysts are part of our Global Tender Management team and will assist in analyzing, tracking, optimizing, and reporting on client pricing requests. Junior Analysts are responsible for a variety of department tasks which include and are not limited to internal rate procurement, rate development, response development, working with global stakeholders, extensive work using Microsoft Excel, managing timelines, and stakeholder inputs. Ideal candidates will be organized, strategic thinkers, quick learners, and extremely analytical. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are a MUST. Additionally, applicants must have excellent communication and time management skills, and be able to work efficiently in a small team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. This position is part of a department that is tasked with providing analysis, insights and process enhancements through rigorous examination and manipulation of data using Microsoft Excel. Junior Analysts are key contributors that will collaborate cross-functionally across various departments of the Company to understand business stakeholder requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Compiling & pre-populating pricing inputs using Microsoft Excel VLOOKUP techniques.
• Develop formulas using Microsoft Excel
• Handle project and tasks assignments in a timely manner
• Develop and analyze detailed reports, charts, and shipment simulations to illustrate variances, overall spend calculations, and other using Microsoft Excel formulas.
• Provide comprehensive analysis of KPIs and trends to increase profitability
• Work with multiple departments to improve efficiency of processes
• Diagnose and assist with time sensitive issues relating to data and timelines
• Learn & gain transportation knowledge in all modes of transport in order to demonstrate knowledge & decision-making methodologies during future assignments/projects.
• Good written and verbal communication
• Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND / WORK EXPERIENCE
• 2-4 years of relevant professional experience
• Degree or Course work in Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or Business related field.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Strong data analysis and modeling skills
• Comfortable working with large data sets
• Expertise with Microsoft Excel
• Basic math skills
• Strong affinity for technology and numbers.
• Willingness to learn and work closely with others to understand the organization.
• Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet project deadlines and to project-manage tight timelines as required.
• Have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Be able to communicate on all levels within an organization.
• Ability to strategize, analyze, and optimize around data
• Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail are essential
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Desire to learn and grow
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Foreign language(s) a plus
COMPUTER LITERACY
• Have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strengths in Word, Access, and Microsoft Excel.
• Advance Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge required. Must be able to seamlessly write & combine complex and nested formulas, and should know how to debug them, audit them and creatively implement formula solutions fitting the requirements.
• Knowledge of macros is a plus
• Familiarity with SQL & VBA (a plus)
