Allied is currently looking for a Product Engineer to Perform or support the necessary activities including, but not limited to, research, testing, and development of new technologies, materials, coatings, geometries and manufacturing processes to achieve and maintain market superiority for assigned product groups. The DDT Specialist – Product Engineer is responsible for working closely with the team to quickly design solutions for the marketplace and provide a capable process to operations in order to make a quality product, on time, and at or under budget.

Requirements

Safety/Operations: Work closely with the team and associates within the value stream to make prototype parts for new designs. Work closely with operations to secure machines when needed in a timely manner to ensure that projects are continually moving forward. Perform capability studies and document outcomes to ensure techniques will be sustainable in production. Train all necessary associates after a product handoff to ensure that the process is correctly followed and sustained.

Cost Reduction: Collaborate as a team to minimize or eliminate any non-value added features that lead to increases in production time. Implement new and creative methods to continually drive down costs of new products. Complete due diligence in process and design to ensure that quality goals are achieved.

Quality: Perform measurement system analysis as needed to ensure that measurement equipment is capable of achieving design criteria. Work closely with the team to identify these areas of concern prior to release of a prototype design.

Personnel: Work closely with other members of the team, the Senior Design Development Team Manager, other associates within the company, and outside vendors to quickly mitigate any issues that arise to provide solutions to the market as quickly as possible in order to continually gain market share and stay at the leading edge of the competition.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Allied’s processes and manufacturing techniques
  • Strong knowledge of product capabilities

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues with potential designs and provide possible solutions to overcome these obstacles
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Proven skills in at least one of the following: ProE model generation, CAM based CNC programming, Inspection equipment programming and validation, or tool design and application

Expected Hours of Work and Travel

  • This is a full-time position that supports 24/7 operations. A flexible schedule is required with off hours accessibility from time to time on an as needed basis.
  • Some travel is required.
