About the role

The Saturday Campus Store and Events Student Worker supports the operations of the Merriman Campus Store primarily on Saturdays, as well as retail operations at assigned campus events. This position provides the opportunity to grow and develop skills in customer service, retail operations, cash handling, merchandising, inventory, and event support.

When working in the Merriman Campus Store, the student worker will work alongside campus store staff to assist customers, operate point-of-sale system, maintain merchandise displays, replenish inventory, and support the overall operations of the store.

When assigned to campus events, the student worker will operate the Gator Trailer independently. The student will be responsible with assisting in setting up and maintaining merchandise, assisting customers, processing sales, handling cash and POS transactions, monitoring merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized retail environment throughout the event. 

This position is ideal for a dependable student who enjoys working with people, is comfortable working independently, and can provide a positive and professional customer experience in both the campus store and event setting.

note: Responsibilities may vary based on the assigned work location and event needs. Many of the duties listed below apply to bother the Merriman Campus Store and the Gator Trailer. Student workers are expected to perform applicable store and event responsibilities as assigned, whether working alongside campus store staff or independently at an event. 

Student is responsible for their own transportation to and from events associate with the Merriman Campus Store and Events. Events may take place at various campus and community locations, including the Robertson Athletic Complex and downtown. 

Saturday Campus Store Operations

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner. 
  • Operate the cash register and point-of-sales (POS) system. 
  • Maintain accuracy when handling money and processing transactions in accordance with store cash-handling procedures. 
  • Assist customers in locating apparel, gifts, and merchandise. 
  • Answer questions regarding store products, promotions, and services. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
  • Fold apparel and ensure merchandise is neatly presented.

Event and Gator Trailer Operations

  • Work assigned campus events, including events scheduled outside of regular campus store hours. 
  • Operate the POS system and process customer transactions. 
  • Handle cash accurately and follow established cash-handling procedures. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming trailer environment throughout the event. 
  • Help prepare merchandise and inventory for campus events. 
  • Assist in event setup and breakdown of merchandise as needed. 

 

  • Availability to work scheduled Saturday shifts and assigned campus events, including events that may occur outside of regular campus store hours. 
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, 
  • Ability to work independently, particularly when assigned to the Gator Trailer.
  • Reliable and dependable attendance. 
  • Comfortable interacting with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.
