Summary: 

Entry level position that performs research and/or development in collaboration with others to complete science-based projects.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory experiments in a safe, timely manner with supervision and frequent communication with the supervisor
  • Aptitude and willingness to gain more skills and knowledge in a particular field of specialization
  • Able to perform routine techniques, but requires training in new techniques
  • Compiles and maintains data on results of analysis and communicates results to supervisor
  • Runs and understands experimental protocols to analyze experimental data with supervisor's guidance
  • Develops a working knowledge of their focus area and directly relevant scientific literature
  • Ability to take direction from experienced scientists and contribute in a team environment
  • Shares findings internally (e.g., at lab and company meeting presentations) with guidance
  • Troubleshoots problems with guidance
  • May attend scientific conferences and present posters
     

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
  • Applies knowledge and basic problem-solving techniques to define and resolve problems.
  • Compiles, maintains, and acts on results of analysis and communicates these results to the supervisor 
  • Works on problems of limited scope

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to repeat and follow detailed scientific procedures with supervision
  • Capable of growth in acquiring new skills and understanding new concepts
  • Ability to determine a course of action based on given guidelines.
  • Ability to learn Rodent handling and dosing; prior rodent handling and dosing experience a plus
  • Experience with applicable scientific techniques a plus (ie. immunohistochemistry, basic molecular biology techniques)
  • Able to exchange standard/basic information with colleagues and immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the team/group.

Education:

BA/BS; Educational degree must be relevant to the position (e.g. biomedical research, physiology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience.)

 

Experience:

Typically requires no previous professional experience.

 

Equivalency:

AA (relevant to the position) plus 2 years of work experience

 

The estimated pay scale for the Research Associate III role based in San Carlos, CA, is $90k - $95k per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to X% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity, and market data.
