Position Summary/Department Summary:
Our Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy provides fully integrated services to deliver the best possible care to our patients. The Boston Children's care team is comprised of pharmacy liaisons and clinical pharmacists that work together to support clinical teams, and our patients and their families
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpreting and evaluating medication orders to ensure drug and dosage are appropriate for patient and to identify possible adverse reactions, contacting physician as needed.
- Reviewing, filling and dispense physician medication orders/prescriptions.
- Checking orders/prescriptions filled by support personnel, verifying products are correctly prepared and labeled, prior authorization resolution, and prescription processing (PV1 and PV2)
- Providing drug information as a subject matter expert.
- Providing patient education.
- Completing medication history documentation.
- Performing quality improvement activities.
- Supervising support personnel within assigned work area and ensuring products are prepared and distributed in accordance with established procedures, schedules and protocols.
- Following URAC/ACHC standards, familiarity helpful
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Doctorate degree in Pharmacy preferred.
- One plus years of experience as a Specialty pharmacist, or 10+ years retail experience preferred
- Experience filling prescriptions using Epic Willow Ambulatory (WAM) is highly desirable.
- CSP not required , but helpful
- Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs.
- Communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well‑developed writing skills.
- Current license and registration by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy.
The Specialty Pharmacy is open 8:30AM - 5pm, M-F.
