Assembly Lead

Scientific Products, an ATS Company is expanding our team and have immediate opening for an Assembly Lead – 1st Shift! The overall purpose of this job is to assemble completed desiccators and pipette pumps from component parts, test the completed desiccators and pipette pumps, then pack them for shipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains functional inventory of component parts.
• Prepares plastic and other component parts for assembly using a variety of hand tools and measuring devices. Assembles components into finished desiccators following written work order instructions.
• Tests finished products for functionality and appearance. Maintains inventory of component parts.
• Collaborates with Quality Control and Engineering staff as required. Packs final products for shipment and prepares production/productivity reports.
• International Standards Organization (ISO) Compliance: Maintains high level of quality in the areas of documentation, inspections, and job performance, as required in procedures and work instructions related to job functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) are preferred;
• one to three months related experience in an assembly work setting is preferred, but not necessary.
• Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• The employee is regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• The employee is regularly required to handle tools utilizing various energy sources- low and high voltage, pneumatic, hydraulic -of low to high power.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment characteristics described here are typical of those an employee might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

• The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
• The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
• The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned.

• Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements
• Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrix
• Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts
• Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition
• Provide information, instruction and supervision to employees
• Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees
