JOB PURPOSE

Reporting directly to the Vice President and Controller, the Director of Accounting and Reporting will spearhead the development and execution of organizational objectives and strategic financial initiatives. This highly visible leadership role partners across key business functions to identify and implement process improvements that enhance PHINIA’s financial strength and operational efficiency. The Director will oversee all aspects of consolidation and SEC reporting, manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes, lead technical accounting evaluations, and drive successful M&A integrations. Additionally, the role plays a critical part in shaping and administering accounting policies and maintaining a robust internal control environment. Frequent engagement with senior Finance leadership and executive management is expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion enterprise-wide financial initiatives for the CFO and Controller organizations, adopting a collaborative, service-oriented approach
  • Direct preparation, review, and filing of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and SEC documents (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements)
  • Lead development, implementation, and governance of global accounting policies aligned with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and enhance internal controls, offering expert guidance to global teams on compliance and control improvements
  • Provide authoritative insight and leadership on complex technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, equity, and business combinations
  • Oversee accounting operations for corporate headquarters, ensuring consistent standards and operational excellence
  • Manage all external audit and interim review processes, coordinating closely with auditors and internal stakeholders
  • Lead integration of newly acquired entities, aligning systems and processes within PHINIA’s accounting framework
  • Partner with global finance teams to support close processes (monthly, quarterly, year-end), driving accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Recruit, mentor, and empower a high-performing team committed to excellence and professional growth

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 12+ years of experience in accounting or finance
  • CPA
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting and SOX compliance
  • Excellent analytical, communicat
