Job Highlights

• Manage complex legacy remediation projects at operating and closed LANXESS facilities and at third-party remediation sites.  This includes project management, internal and external coordination with BU/GF personnel, regulatory authorities, PRP groups, contractors, third-party experts, outside legal counsel and other stakeholders. 
• Provide support to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, to include integration support for newly acquired sites;  Includes real-estate transactions and facility decontamination /decommissioning /demolition.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to business units and sites for critical environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in and support internal audits, including compliance audits and ISO/RC audits at US and Canadian sites.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in the environmental sustainability program, as well as regular sustainability data reporting. Participate in and support sustainability third party site audit preparation.
• Monitor upcoming changes to environmental regulations and convey updates to business units / sites as appropriate.
• Maintain regular communications and interfaces with all levels of the LANXESS organization and external (3rd party) partners. 

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or engineering; Advanced degree preferred. Professional license and/or registration preferred.

• At least 5 years experience with execution and management of diverse remediation projects.

• Broad technical experience with modern remedial technologies and approaches.

• Experienced and well versed with in-depth knowledge of multi-media (i.e. water, air, solid waste) environmental compliance and environmental remediation laws and regulations in US (required) and Canada (preferred).

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or plant environment, including environmental auditing preferred.

• Familiarity with other HSE aspects (i.e., occupational safety, plant/process safety, distribution safety, product safety/regulatory affairs, management systems, crisis and incident management) of benefit.

• Some prior experience with negotiation of contracts and legal agreements preferred.

• A general understanding of the modern ESG arena as it relates to the chemical sector.

• The ability to translate complex regulations into regional guidelines and manuals is an integral part of this position. The job holder is at times the sole LANXESS Corporate environmental representative involved for some of the tasks performed and therefore the ability to think and act independently is a must for this position.
