Summary

 

Regional Safety Lead

 

The Regional Safety Lead is a hands‑on, field‑based role that partners with field management and operations teams to execute strategic objectives in safety, compliance, and risk management. This role serves as a subject matter expert responsible for conducting announced and unannounced audits across business operations with a focus on food safety and occupational safety standards. In addition to audits, the Regional Safety Lead delivers safety training, coaching, and real‑time education to frontline employees and supervisors to reinforce safe behaviors and strengthen operational capability. The role gathers and analyzes audit and incident data, providing findings and reports to field teams in collaboration with the health and safety function.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver in‑field safety education, coaching, and on‑the‑spot training to frontline employees and supervisors while conducting announced and unannounced audits to ensure compliance with food safety and occupational safety regulations

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to field associates and management to foster a strong safety culture

  • Partner with field leadership to provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and support on safety‑related matters

  • Analyze audit data and incident reports to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement

  • Influence and support reduction of food safety violations and physical incidents through collaboration and clear communication

  • Support sustainability and expansion of enterprise safety programs while collaborating with risk management leadership on strategic initiatives and reporting

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience Requirements: 4–6 years experience in relevant field

  • Travel requirement: Some travel expected

Supervisor Responsibility

 

Direct Reports: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct reports

Indirect Reports: Does not have direct reports, but may delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence and drive change across multiple organizational levels

  • Experience in safety management within multi‑unit or national organizations

  • In‑depth knowledge of food safety standards and occupational safety regulations

  • Experience conducting food safety and physical safety audits in retail or similar environments

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training and coaching to non‑technical audiences

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to assess risk and recommend corrective actions

  • Ability to interpret data using spreadsheet tools or business intelligence dashboards

  • Operational understanding of balancing field execution with safety requirements

  • Ability to work independently and manage a multi‑state travel schedule

Environmental & Physical Requirements

 

Field Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in a retail in-store environment, which may include working in variable temperatures such as refrigerated areas, freezer sections and deli/bakery areas. The position typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each workday performing the following activities: Engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use consumer goods products, prepare, and serve food and beverages safely as appropriate for the product demonstration.
