Job Description

Responsibilities of the Instructional Coach will include, but are not limited to:

  • Student Culture
    • Work closely with the Principal to establish a loving, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture
    • Facilitate faculty training and support around discipline, relationships, expectations, consistency, and management
    • Coordinate and implement a school-wide discipline system with meaningful incentives and consequences in multi-class settings (i.e. buses, arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, and recess)
    • Conduct regular school culture walkthroughs and audits to help staff maintain a high bar of excellence
    • Problem-solve with students, teachers, and families to improve behavior of individual students over time
  • Instructional Excellence and Managemen
    • Provide weekly one-on-one coaching for teachers on classroom culture, management, and instruction.
    • Lead content internalization sessions to deepen instructional knowledge.
    • Deliver school-wide instructional professional development.
    • Provide feedback on aims and assessments weekly
    • Conduct weekly data and planning/internalization meetings with teachers after each benchmark assessment, and monitor overall academic progress for students
    • Internalize and adapt grade-level scopes and sequences as needed.
    • Support the Principal in coordinating and managing state and interim assessments.
    • Knowledgeable about the science of reading and the foundations of literacy. 
    • Strong understanding of the conceptual framework for mathematics.

    • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year
  • Other
    • Assist with daily school operations, including lunch, arrival, dismissal, and class coverage.
    • Carry out any additional daily school duties as decided upon by the Principal
    • Ensure effective field lessons, school events, and extracurricular activities
    • Model school core values and character strengths at all times
    • Support the behavior support team with behaviors across K-4

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Evidence of significant and consistent personal and professional achievement
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 4+ year(s) of experience as a classroom teacher with a proven record of high achievement AND
  • 1+ year(s) experience leading and/or coaching teachers, including but limited to roles such as Assistant Principal, Principal, Dean of Instruction, Dean of Academics, Instructional Coach, Teacher Coach, etc.
  • Clear understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and leadership
  • Experience teaching or supporting English Language Learners, preferred
