Automotive Transmission Technician

Roles and Responsibilities

•       Diagnose transmission problems using specialized diagnostic equipment
• Perform routine maintenance on automatic transmission systems
• Repair or replace damaged or worn-out transmission components
• Test drive vehicles to identify transmission issues and verify repairs
• Conduct comprehensive inspections of transmission systems
• Utilize technical manuals and schematics for repair procedures
• Perform fluid changes and flushes for transmission systems
• Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to resolve complex issues
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in transmission technology
• Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and offering maintenance advice
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a clean work environment
• Earn up to $50 per hour based on experience and performance

Qualifications & Skills  

• Certification from a recognized automotive training program
• Previous experience working specifically with automatic transmissions
• Strong diagnostic skills using modern diagnostic equipment
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
• Good communication skills and customer service experience
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems
• Familiarity with automotive software and computer systems
• ASE certification in vehicle transmission systems
• Proficiency in using technical manuals and repair guides
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an automotive repair or mechanical training program
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive repair
• Strong understanding of automatic transmission systems
• Ability to use specialized tools and diagnostic equipment
• Basic computer skills for diagnostic and repair software
• Valid and clean Driver’s record for the past two years
• Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
