Lecturer I - Modern China/Chinese Culture

Description

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I for the Fall 2025 Term. The successful candidate will teach a course related to Chinese Culture and Modern China. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025.

This is not a tenure-track appointment. Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, the funding for this position will only be available in Academic Year 2025-2026.

 

 

Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of modern Chinese Studies. Expertise in Chinese literature and culture during the Republican, Maoist, and contemporary eras is preferred. Native or near-native proficiency in English is required; at least two years of experience teaching at the college/university level is expected. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience successfully teaching survey and seminar topics courses related to modern China culture.
