Job Purpose

This role is to facilitate the delivery of NYS DOT projects within the Distribution Line portfolio.  Manage each project to ensure cost, scope, and schedule are aligned and adhered to.  The Project Manager will engage key stakeholders throughout the process to enable cost effective planning and delivery of Electric NYS DOT projects in the Western Division.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • The Program Manager builds internal and external relationships to enable the cost-effective planning, scheduling, and execution of Electric NYS DOT projects in the Western Division.
  • The Program Manager will support other Project and Program Managers when applicable.
  • Monitor project cost, scope, and schedule to ensure it remains on-track.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within Program Management.
  • Analyze financial forecasts for assigned projects and portfolio using project management software (Primavera P6) for optimal work plan delivery.
  • Identify risks to project delivery including major permit issues or restrictions, logistical problems, cost constraints or contractual problems and recommend appropriate action.
  • Review and prepare as necessary, all required documents and reports relating to assigned project activities including sanctioning and close-out.
  • Produce detailed project schedules to support workplan development.
  • Act as first point of contact for DOT regional utility engineers, County, City, Town & NYS Thruway Authority.
  • Read and interpret project drawings and review for impact to National Grid facilities.
  • Act as liaison between DOT and National Grid Design & Operations throughout all phases of project. Ensure proper coordination and communication to meet DOT’s schedule.

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

 

  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity, and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or analytical discipline.
  • Experience of fact-finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information using critical analysis.
  • Working knowledge and experience in program/project management principles, budgeting, forecasting, along with scheduling tools and techniques.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Power Plan, SAP.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s safe driver policy.

$97,000 - $114,000 a year
