This position is responsible for supervising the work and employee activities within the packaging department, ensuring compliance with all CGMP, SOP, company, and government agency requirements.
How you’ll spend your day
All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position by any incumbents with reasonable accommodation if necessary. Any non-essential functions are assumed to be included in other related duties or assignments.
- Supervise the filling and packaging of solid dose products.
- Coordinate employees in the Packaging Department.
- Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with cGMP's.
- Write and update SOP's and review them with employees.
- Train packaging personnel on revised procedures, new equipment, and applications.
- Supervise the labeling area, including bottle labels and outserts.
- Ensure the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control.
- Recommend procedures to increase department efficiency.
- Maintain packaging standards and execute disciplinary actions when required.
- Work within the prescribed yearly operational budget.
- Conduct thorough investigations pertaining to packaging deficiencies.
- Support cross-functional departmental needs to support production.
- Ensure OSHA standards are maintained and promote safety.
- Identify and prevent health and safety issues, report and document accidents and incidents immediately.
- Provide input into the Inventory Control System.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager/Director.
- Maintain Employee Time Card System, employee work hours, vacation, and leave of absence, and control overtime.
- Seek out and implement production process improvements to improve quality, reduce cost, and improve safety.
Your experience and qualifications
Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.
Education/ Experience:
- Minimum High School diploma required; BS/BA preferred in Science or related field.
- 2-5 years of supervisory experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing/packaging environment; solid dosage experience preferred.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Packaging Equipment, pharmaceutical cGMP's, adaptable to change, ability to follow production schedules, excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, works well within team structure, self-motivated, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Trackwise & Document Control System, ERP System, PC literate, various packaging equipment, knowledge of aggregation process on packaging lines.
Physical Demand:
- Ability to lift 25lbs, walk/stand/sit as needed.
