About the role

Health Information Coder for the Emergency Department.  This is a Part-Time position and will work 10-hour shifts.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department.  This position ensures optimal reimbursement through accurate entry and reconciliation of charges for all patients seen in the Emergency Department.

The Facility ED E/M, OBS E/M and injection/infusion charge coder will be responsible for calculating facility ED E/M and OBS E/M in EPIC as well as posting charges for injections/infusions

  • Will also determine and post injection/infusion charges.
  • Code facility ED, OBS and injections/infusions when needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations through pertinent materials.
  • Maintaining quality and productivity standards
  • Learning all workflow processes in order to work with the ED and coding teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
  • California Fire and Life Safety Card - National Organization within 30 days of hire

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
