Job Description
Reporting to the Team Lead for Embedded Software, the Senior Engineer, Test will manage the functional and system testing of Rockwell Automation products, components and systems. You will test Rockwell products during their development, before a release reaches any customer to ensure that all products are tested thoroughly, before release. On the Customer Response Team, you will be responsible for test planning, test case generation and test execution utilizing analysis, construction, and execution techniques that are unique to the industrial automation problem and – in some cases – unlike processes used anywhere else in the industry. State-of-the-art troubleshooting and debug techniques are a focus of the test team – you will learn to deploy and utilize the most sophisticated real-time firmware debugging equipment and tools available today. You will help ensure that developed products are defect-free, meet performance requirements, and are within total quality management standards. Essential Functions
- Complete Regression using Jenkins
- Maintain Python test scripts and Jenkins jobs
- Complete manual tests
- Investigate test failures and determine source of fail
- Perform routine testing utilizing existing test collateral and test cases. Report any issues identified and documenting test results for follow-up. Work with the development team to characterize any issues found.
- Maintain existing test cases and develop new test collateral and test cases in response to new product or system requirements
- Develop understanding of testing practices.
- Seek and improve knowledge of test development processes.
- Evaluate, challenges, and research possible solutions by seeking input from subject matter experts to ensure fact-based recommendations and decisions are being made during all phases of product development.
- Establish a timeline for assigned tasks/projects and can report progress.
- Can utilize test tools and methods to ensure full test coverage is attained.
- Conduct informal presentations to small groups regarding specific technical topics
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Typically requires a minimum of 2 years experience with Python, Jenkins, Jira and qTest
- Two years experience developing and starting up control systems – either process control or manufacturing automation
- Previous test experience
- Working knowledge of Git
- Experience with Rockwell Products
- Specific training in process control or manufacturing automation
- Software development techniques and application
- Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners skills
- Experience with any of the popular DCS (distributed control systems)
- Knowledge of and experience in functional safety, fault tolerant designs, and safety integrated systems
- Experience with motion/servo-based controllers and drives
- Experience with test automation languages such as Python
- Experience with virtualization using ESXI, VMWare Workstation and Azure
