Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative Senior Scientist to join our Biological Sciences drug discovery group. This position will be responsible for designing, performing, and interpreting biophysical, biochemical, and cellular experiments for our drug discovery programs. This includes the development of relevant model systems for the identification, validation, and screening of compounds against novel therapeutic targets. The successful candidate will work independently, but also as an integral part of a larger team to achieve collective goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of biochemistry and biophysics and will apply this this to challenging ongoing and new drug discovery programs.
This position will report to an Associate Director, Biological Sciences, and work onsite at our research facility in Lawrence, Kansas.
Job Description
- Design, develop, and optimize biophysical, biochemical and cellular assays to evaluate the therapeutic potential of rationally designed targeted small molecules. These assays will facilitate project teams in developing structure-activity relationships as part of hit-to-lead and lead optimization efforts.
- Develop innovative proposals to facilitate the adoption of new technological approaches and capabilities.
- Document experimental design, analysis, and interpretation of data in an ELN and LIMS system
- Stay up to date with the latest scientific and technological advancements in the field
- Author technical reports and presentations to communicate data and analyses
- Add to Deciphera culture of collaboration and shared mission to solve complex biological problems
Qualifications
- A PhD in Biochemistry or related field with 3+ years of biotech or pharma industry experience
- In-depth knowledge of assay design principles and HTS using biophysical methods
- Experience programming automated laboratory instruments including ECHO, Bravo, and multi-mode plate readers
- Proficiency with biophysical techniques such as protein MS, SPR, ITC, MST, DSF
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Additional Information
Deciphera is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary pay range for this role is $107,000.00 - $148,000.00. Actual compensation packages will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to depth of experience, education, skillset, overall performance and/or location.
