About the role

Continuum Industries is a GreenTech software startup accelerating new linear infrastructure route development with AI. Founded in 2018, we have supported over 25,000 miles of new linear infrastructure - underground and subsea power cables, overhead transmission lines, hydrogen and water pipelines.
Following our $10m Series A investment round in 2023 and off the back of tremendous momentum in the UK and Europe last year, we established our New York office in December 2023. Optioneer is already used by enterprise infrastructure organisations such as; National Grid, BP, RWE, SSEN Transmission, Iberdrola and National Gas Transmission in the US, UK and Europe. We are now scaling up our mission to accelerate and de-risk infrastructure development in the US! Optioneer has the capability to transform the way we develop infrastructure through AI and automation. We want someone to help us change the status quo and drive infrastructure development forward!
We are looking for a hands-on and proactive individual with experience in infrastructure project development, with a specific focus on overhead line transmission projects. This person will have technical engineering, project management and/or permitting experience (ideally all three but we are realistic). Regardless of area of expertise across functional empathy is essential.
This role is focused on helping our customers adopt Optioneer and supporting users day-to-day with implementation of the software on their projects. By joining customers’ projects as Optioneer and infrastructure development expert, you will be pivotal in maximising the use of Optioneer and ensuring that our customers both realize and utilize its full potential.
You will also have a strategic contribution to the product development roadmap and business development strategy across the country working with our customer success, sales, product and engineering team; at Continuum we believe collaboration is the key to progress!
NB: This role requires someone to be in our NYC office 2+ days a week however, we welcome applications from those living outside of New York state within a commutable distance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding project requirements and defining project deliverables with customers 
  • Gathering, reviewing and processing geospatial (GIS) data
  • Operating Optioneer software to generate results for our customers
  • Onboarding team members to Optioneer and upskilling Customer teams
  • Supporting the progress of iterating on results using Optioneer based on feedback from customers 
  • Communicating and presenting technical results to users
  • Preparing deliverables for our customers - reports, analysis documents, visuals
  • Provide specifications for features of Optioneer app based on experiences in project delivery
  • Supporting our clients in maximising their use of Optioneer software and identifying opportunities for further deployment of the software

You'll bring:

  • Transmission infrastructure project development experience, one of; engineering, environmental, permitting or project management. 
  • 4+ years experience working for a consulting firm, contractor or utility, ideally across multiple projects and specifically in project development i.e. planning, design, environmental assessment, permitting and stakeholder consultation.
  • Experience working in a client-facing role with the desire to deliver above expectations.
  • Experience navigating interdisciplinary workflows, communicating complex concepts and working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience of using digital solutions with data or software components to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of work.
  • Effective communication skills, being able to produce high-quality and appealing deliverables.

Bonus points for:

  • Technical expertise and regulatory knowledge related to local land use permitting, state siting processes, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act and related legislation and guidance (e.g., USFWS land-based guidelines).
  • Understanding of working with GIS data sources (especially working with ArcGIS REST APIs), sourcing and structuring data models across multiple states in US.
  • Past experience working with automation workflows, parametric design, system-based approach to projects and developments.
