PURPOSE

The Assistant Director of Housing Operations will support the Director of Housing Operations in managing all aspects of student housing operations at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Islander Housing is comprised of two different campus properties: Momentum Village and Miramar, totaling 2833 beds. The Associate Director will assist the day-to-day operations of the housing facilities, including coordinating maintenance and repairs, supervising the operations staff and ensuring compliance with university policies and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Area: Operations

Percent Effort: 30%

• Assist the Director of Administration and Operations in managing the operations of the housing facilities, including residence halls and apartments.

• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of the housing facilities, including the submission of maintenance requests and overseeing work orders management as it relates to the student experience.

• Coordinate housekeeping of common areas and vacant room spaces

• Coordinate the key check-in/check-out process for students and staff.

• Assist with the planning and execution of the student move-in/move-out process.

• Participates in planning, directing, and coordinating operational or procedural matters to meet department goals and objectives.

• Acts as a Mandatory Reporter (Campus Security Authority) as required by the Clery Act.

• Participate in the on-call duty rotation with other members of the Housing and Residence Life team.

Percent Effort: 30%

• Develops reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by Associate Director of Administration and Operations.

• Assist with budget planning for area(s) under their supervision and assists Director in planning and budgeting for department.

• Ensure compliance with all unit, department, University, and government standards, policies, and procedures.

• Enforce the terms and conditions of the Student Housing Contract, Resident Handbook, and all state/federal laws; investigate, resolve, and/or refer for adjudication.

• Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive emergency management plan for the housing facilities. Working with Incident Command Team and Hurricane evacuation and response teams.

• Participates in strategic planning based on assessment data and department goals.

• Attend staff meetings and other meetings as scheduled

Percent Effort: 20%

• Collaborate with Islander Housing Communications Specialist to ensure proper communication surrounding maintenance, keys, and other operational concerns.

• Collaborate with other university departments and stakeholders to promote student success and well-being.

• Works with University Police Department, Counseling Center, and other campus departments on immediate response to incidents in the residence halls.

Percent Effort: 20%

• Provide direct supervision and guidance to four (4) operations coordinators and four (4) housekeepers.

• Provides leadership for department along with and in absence of the Associate Director of Administration and Operations
