Your opportunity:
As a Production Planning and Training Manager you will develop the sales and operations plan for the overall business by coordinating with business units and regional locations; monitoring, communicating, evaluating performance to the plan; and leading the placement of manpower in accordance with the plan. You will provide direction to and coordinate the activities of the production scheduling and planning teams and support staff to ensure manufacturing activity is performed in accordance with the business unit, division and corporate sales and operations plans and budgets. Provide overall direction and project coordination to the technical training team ensuring new and existing production team members have the skills to be effective and efficient.
What you’ll be doing:
Coordinate sales activity and manufacturing capabilities through the development of a business unit sales and operations plan.
Develop a scheduling staff capable of meeting the changing needs of the company through communication, training, employee involvement and daily direction.
Develop business unit sales and operations plan that supports business unit, divisional and company goals and objectives.
Monitor production and sales activity to pinpoint variances to budget and make recommendations regarding corrective actions and revised plans.
Participate on internal task forces focused on production planning issues, manufacturing systems and/or other topics pertinent to the planning function.
Develop long-term strategic plans for the evaluation of the scheduling/planning function to assist the business unit in meeting its sales commitments during periods of growth and/or change.
Leadership role in maximizing the company’s investment in a new ERP system within the business unit.
Continuously review and make recommendations for the improvement of scheduling systems, processes and procedures.
Coordinate activities among various internal departments that can affect the production process (i.e. engineering, production management, traffic, inventory control, sales and purchasing).
Coordinate development and launch of Manufacturing Training Academy, ongoing support and continuous improvement.
Provide overall direction and project coordination for Technical Training team
Identify, create and roll out new training as needs change (Ex: Industry 4.0 training) and continuous improvement of current training.
Partner with EHS and Learning & Development on areas of need and improved systems for training and tracking.
Monitor, recommend, and implement labor contract, manpower planning, and capacity management strategies including hiring, training, transferring, and furloughing of employees.
Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times, customer service, operation efficiencies, machine utilization, and labor.
Manage the consolidated campus S & OP and manpower planning processes. Review and monitor schedule attainment, customer service, performance against plan, inventory strategy, and supply plans to meet demand and resource implications, while supporting individual business unit scheduling processes.
Develop and implement capacity management strategies with BU leaders that capitalize on the advantages of a shared campus workforce with multiple plant locales.
Actively participate with GM’s and Sales Managers in the creation of accurate order intake forecasts and the development of exception reporting and escalation processes.
