Job Description:
Sherpa 6, a leading Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business specializing in tactical network solutions and software development, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Manager (QM). The QM will work hands-on with hardware and software teams to ensure quality products are delivered to our mission-critical military customers. This includes direct collaboration with engineers to implement quality standards, conducting on-site inspections to ensure product integrity, and addressing technical challenges in real-time to meet the rigorous demands of military applications. The QM will play a pivotal role in maturing the company’s business practices to achieve ISO 9001:2015 and CMMI Maturity Level 3 certifications. This position will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s quality management system (QMS), ensuring adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management System Development:
- Lead the design, documentation, implementation, and continuous improvement of Sherpa 6’s QMS to meet ISO 9001:2015 and CMMI Maturity Level 3 standards.
- Develop and maintain quality policies, procedures, and process documentation.
2. Policy and Process Maturation:
- Collaborate with functional teams to standardize and streamline processes across the organization.
- Ensure that processes are well-defined, repeatable, and capable of delivering consistent quality outcomes.
3. Internal Audits:
- Plan, schedule, and conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of the QMS.
- Identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and verify the implementation of improvements.
4. External Audit Coordination:
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and certification bodies.
- Prepare the organization for external audits by ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
5. Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver quality training programs to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on quality management principles and best practices.
6. Metrics and Reporting:
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of the QMS.
- Present regular reports to executive leadership on quality performance, audit results, and improvement initiatives.
7. Risk Management:
- Identify and assess risks related to quality and process performance.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure the reliability of Sherpa 6’s products and services.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Business, Quality Management, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management roles, preferably within a government contracting or technology environment.
- Proven experience leading organizations to successful ISO 9001:2015 and/or CMMI Level 3 certifications.
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles, process improvement methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting internal and external audits.
- Certification as a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015 and/or CMMI preferred.
- Familiarity with government contracting and Department of Defense (DoD) standards is a plus.
