About the Role
Dealer Inspire’s award winning website platform is host to over 6,000 dealership websites. We partner with two dozen of the largest Automotive brands on the planet to provide a robust digital showroom experience that is connected with the Cars.com Marketplace and a suite of modern retailing tools.
The Sr. Manager, OEM Engineering will be an essential bridge between our OEM Program Management Team and engineering team(s)— providing organizational and technical leadership, clarifying priorities, and optimizing processes. The OEM Engineering Team delivers technical solutions to fulfill OEM partner requirements; and maintains and enhances business critical systems relied upon by the website platform.

You should have exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills. You should have hands-on management experience, and a strong belief in developing the skills and talents of others. You care about what you do, and the people around you. Ideal candidates will have experience working with cross-functional development teams, and understand the importance of articulating technical trade-offs and resource availability to help business leaders make informed decisions.
Responsibilities Include
- People management for 3-4 managers: set expectations, provide development opportunities, coaching, conduct 1:1s, hold team members accountable for results.
- Work with Design, Development, Infrastructure, and Business teams to build consensus, clarify priorities, optimize process, and deliver projects.
- Establish and cultivate constructive relationships with our OEM customers, in business and technical roles; provide technical context and leadership in client discussions.
- Ensure the health and sustainability of software projects owned by your teams by building and maintaining an engineering roadmap.
- Lead the Software Engineering management team in establishing standards, processes, and best practices.
- Coordinate on-call rotations and incident response.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
- 5+ years of experience managing engineers.
- Strong track record building high functioning teams.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex terms and ideas.
- Experience working in an Enterprise software environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback, resolve conflicts, and collaborate effectively.
- Experience working with stakeholders in nontechnical business roles.
- Experience as a manager of managers is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience, technical leadership and people management.
- 3+ years experience working with Product/Program management teams.
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages.
- Hands-on experience driving organizational change/improvement/evolution.
- Experience managing projects in an Agile environment.
