Summary: 

Responsible for a variety of specialized clinical research activities, ensures that established protocols are implemented, maintains protocol integrity, monitors participant's status and safety. Develops research methods and practices within guidelines of protocol and research objectives. May have responsibility for identifying and recruiting study participants. Assists Investigators as needed in the development of research plans and protocols. Notifies investigators and sponsors of problems or issues, checks on progress and well-being of research subjects and overall direction of the research study. Will participate in direct patient care within the scope of clinical research protocols, functions as Patient Care Coordinator, collaboratively leads the development and delivery of high quality patient care and efficient and customer-friendly services in the ambulatory practice setting. Responsible for the provision of patient care to patients within the practice site as it relates to care along the continuum. Available to patients and families for consultation and health education addressing the age specific needs of the patients, their families/significant others and the health care team. Expertise in providing care to patients with HIV preferred.

Job Responsibilities: 

1) Manages and coordinates complex studies in accordance with established protocols or guidelines

2) Presents the trial concepts and details to the patient and obtains informed consent from patient or guardian. Educates patient regarding his/her rights as a research subject, alternatives of care, and provides teaching specific to protocol drugs, devices, treatments and side effects.

3) Coordinates scheduling of tests and treatments required for protocol. Communicates with investigator and care providers regarding protocol requirements prior to patient appointment

4) Reviews medical record for toxicities, adverse events, unanticipated problems and reports same to investigators and sponsors

5) Contributes to protocol evaluation and implementation planning.

6) Prepares, submits, and maintains regulatory documents.

7) Develops and maintains study and patient files in a highly organized manner.

8) Develops Source Documents as needed per protocol.

9) Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals to manage the spectrum of services needed by specific patient populations.

10) Develop and coordinate treatment plans that address the patient's clinical, nutritional, psycho/social and economic needs.

1) Possess knowledge of clinical research data collection and clinical data report preparation

2)  Solid computer skills including databases

3)  Strong knowledge of Federal & State Regulations as they relate to research
