Description
Venesco, LLC, a premier Government healthcare contractor, is recruiting for an Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacy Technicians to provide services at New Mexico VA Healthcare System. This long-term contract is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door at the coveted VA. Venesco Pharmacists providing services to the VA make an important difference in the lives who served our country!
Hours: The Pharmacy services are operational 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. This position will require some varying work hours. Work hours will consist of the 8-12 shifts. May work weekends and holidays.
Duties:
1. Prepares and dispenses medications to include sterile compounded products and maintains related records for patients.
2. Prepares, packages, labels and distributes medication doses prescribed by Physician.
3. Maintains inventories of drugs and supplies, stocking shelves, rotating stock, and checking expiration date of pharmaceuticals.
4. Fills/stocks medications in various automated devices; documenting lot and expiration date into computerized logs.
5. Operates various types of pharmacy automation, including, but not limited to, Med Carousel, ScriptPro, Pick Point, Omnicell automated dispensing equipment.
6. Read computer screens, use scanning equipment, select specific drugs/products required to fill an order by name, strength and National Drug Code number.
7. Cleans cells and performs first level preventative maintenance which includes cleaning off lights, vacuuming, and making minor adjustments to equipment.
89. Processes refill requests and prints prescription labels utilizing computerized software programs.
Requirements
- Current, active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician Registration any of the 50 states or US territories.
- Certified by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
- One year of experience as a pharmacy technician with an emphasis on sterile IV compounding.
- Basic Life Support Certification (by the time of start)
