The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part Time Student - Software Engineering for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Urbandale, IA Ames ,IA you will be responsible for:
- Work on Setup applications such as Land Manager, Setup Builder, and Path Planning.
- These applications help our Ag customers prepare for Tillage, Planting, Spraying, and Harvesting field work through management of Fields, Guidance, and Boundaries.
- You will primarily work on front-end development using JavaScript and React with additional opportunity for back-end API development using Java.
- Responsibilities include:
- Developing and supporting high quality John Deere agronomic web applications using React
- Engaging in all aspects of the software delivery cycle including the design, build, test, deploy, and support of software applications
- Collaborating with Product Managers, User Experience, and other support roles to define product requirements
- Supporting a culture of software craftsmanship best practices including Test Automation and Continuous Integration

What Skills You Need
- Experience developing with JavaScript and React
- Experience developing and utilizing REST APIs
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (other may apply)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
- Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester
- Must be able to commute to the work location in Urbandale, IA or Ames, IA on a daily basis year-round
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience with JavaScript testing frameworks, such as Mocha, Jest, React Testing Library
- Experience with Amazon Web Services or other cloud computing platforms
- Experience developing in John Deere Operations Center
