About the role

This position is responsible for leading and developing purchasing practices that are efficient and effective, pertaining to current product and direct purchases.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Vendor management: costing, set up lead times, payables, quality, and negotiate terms
  • Quality: Ensure parts we need meet co-specs
  • Signing authority for buyers
  • Coordinate costs with division locations for bulk buying
  • Inventory reporting
  • Run speed and variable report
  • Manage the continuous improvement of the supply base working with commodity managers to improve service and quality performance.
  • Manages the development and maintaining of manufacturing processes and technologies to support zero defects, ensure on time delivery and be cost competitive.
  • Provides information to facilitate the coordination of overall organization distribution and customer service functions. Collects information on present and future distribution needs.
  • Ensures quality objectives are met and takes timely corrective action when below objectives.
  • Maintain and reinforces a positive working relationship with all levels of all the organization.
  • Utilize MRP system to forecasting
  • Performs all related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • APICS certification preferred

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five to ten year’s minimum experience in automotive/manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with and working experience in a TS-16949 or other Quality regulated manufacturing environment

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use MRP system preferred
  • Ability to manage others required

  • Exposure to sometimes extreme temperatures in the production environment
