Java Software Developer - Client Services

Detroit Labs OnSite Business Unit is looking for an experienced Java Developer to join an exciting project with one of our automotive clients that drives game-changing technology. This role will work with connected vehicle services for customers owning vehicles with connected capabilities across USA and Canada. These systems consist of several Backend, Front end, and middleware applications. The systems integrate with the connectivity units inside the vehicle and enable features like the ability to start the vehicle remotely, parking locations, Alexa voice commands, and many more. This is a full-time salaried hybrid role located in Auburn Hills, MI.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of experience in software development
• Able to integrate with and manage APIs exposing microservices (REST, SOAP) including development and support of Java/JavaScript services
• Experience in Web Portal design and development, including Web content management
• Skills with UML and ability to facilitate OO/J2EE design, following best practices and design patterns
• Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures
• Familiar with Design Thinking, Behavior, and Test-Driven Development
• Experience developing cloud-hosted, responsive, single-page web applications using JavaScript, Java, HTML5, and CSS3
• Proficient with client-side JavaScript frameworks (preferably React/Redux), server-side frameworks (preferably NodeJS), and NoSQL databases (preferably MongoDB)
• Experience working with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrates active pursuit of optimizing CI/CD process and tools, testing frameworks and practices
• Kafka. Node.JS, Docker/Kubernetes / Mesos / CoreOS, AWS · Rx and ICP framework and operator libraries, core execution engines, high-scale streaming data management, manageability and tooling, and system optimization · Experience with automotive and head unit preferred?
• Familiar with test-and-learn approaches using web and customer analytics data, understanding how these drive hypotheses-based development

Responsibilities

• Work with other engineers, developers, architects, QA, system engineers and project managers in solving client technical challenges
• Understand requirements, implement solutions, provide administration tools and documentation for specific projects
• Participate in design and code reviews
• Follow and enhance existing development processes
• Provide accurate estimates, regular feedback, and meet project deadlines

• The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience
