Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Benefits & Executive Compensation team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in NYC. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Join our team as you report directly to the Chief Counsel for Benefits & Executive Compensation, where your expertise in federal labor, particularly ERISA, tax, and securities law, will play a pivotal role in shaping our benefits and executive compensation strategies. Experience a company culture built on integrity and responsible teamwork, where your contributions will be valued and impactful. In this fast-paced, dynamic environment, you’ll collaborate with leaders across our global businesses, tackling challenging work that influences our operations and client relationships.

If you’re ready to elevate your career and be part of a team that values expertise and collaboration, we want to hear from you!

We will count on you to:

  • Advise our business leaders regarding benefits and executive compensation risks in connection with mergers and acquisitions.

  • Assist in the preparation of disclosure regarding benefits and executive compensation to meet our obligations as a public company.

  • Work with other practice members in supporting our global HR and Finance colleagues as they manage existing benefit programs, maintain their compliance in the face of changing law and regulations, and evaluate and implement new benefit programs.

  • Assist with executive compensation and equity compensation design, administration and compliance as needed including stock and incentive plans and related agreements.

  • Review benefit and executive compensation-related communications from an ERISA fiduciary and/or plan sponsor perspective.

  • Work as part of a team adjudicating and responding to ERISA benefit claims.

What you need to have:

  • Law Degree with a minimum of 2 years of Benefits and Executive Compensation experience

  • Similar experience working in a top-tier law firm or in a large, complex multinational enterprise.

  • Advisory experience for ERISA fiduciaries and their delegates on meeting their obligations under ERISA.

What makes you stand out:

  • Deep Expertise in ERISA and Regulatory Compliance: A candidate should possess a robust understanding of ERISA and its implications for benefits and executive compensation, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions. Experience advising ERISA fiduciaries and navigating complex regulatory environments is crucial.

  • Strong Advisory and Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with HR and Finance teams globally will set candidates apart, as this role requires building relationships and influencing decision-making across various levels of the organization.

  • Innovative Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks associated with benefits and executive compensation programs. The ability to think strategically about how benefits and compensation can drive organizational success, especially in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, will be key to excelling in this role.
