Engineering Project Controller
Charlotte, NC - hybrid
Summary of the role
The open position is for a Project Controller in the hydro engineering group. The team is responsible for the design of large hydro components, with a primary focus on US projects.
We are looking for an individual who will support the engineering manager in the planning of the projects undertaken by the engineering teams and monitor their progress (schedule and time spent).
The unique requirements of each hydro project make this a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a candidate with related skills and experience.
The Project Controller is expected to work closely with the local engineering and drafting teams, as well as externally located engineering specialists, project management, manufacturing, and installation teams. Occasional travel to customer locations, project sites, or other Andritz offices may be required.
Individual duties will vary based on project requirements, but generally include the following:
Individual project:
- Develop with the local manager, local team leads and project management group a resourced engineering plan using Primavera P6 software
- Maintain the plan throughout its life cycle (weekly basis) working collaboratively with the members of the team
- Interface with the project team and ensure proper updates are made to allow project schedulers to reflect accurately the progress of Engineering.
- Monitor health of the project via the earned value methodology
- Assist team leads in changes to the plan (scope, duration and/or timing)
- Assist the team leaders in understanding the overall critical path and strategies to be developed to recover float if required.
Office:
- Consolidate all individual projects to assist manager in overall resource utilization assessment(s)
- Assist the local manager in making cross project prioritization decisions (understand across project impacts of changes in resource assignments).
- Monitor health of the department across all of its assigned projects/activities.
- Ensure data integrity between projects and SAP.
- Ensure resource availability data is accurate.
- Ensure cross project WBS and activities terminology is consistent
- Provide WBS level data on performance to be used to improve estimating and identify areas for improvement.
Other:
- Assist Team leads in reviewing their projects which may include organization of project reviews
- Assist the manager in assessing the addition of new work into the team
- Assist the manager in reviewing and approving weekly timesheets

- Bachelor degree in Engineering or Administration;
- Experience in Project Management;
- Primavera P6 software knowledge;
- Comfortable in managing / organizing data in Excel;
- Computer skills in common PC applications;
- Excellent problem solving skills, sound judgment, initiative & creativity;
- Ability to work with people in a team environment;
