The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) serves as a principal leader, resource and support in fostering a campus environment where students feel a profound sense of belonging, connection, and the ability to thrive. The Center is seeking an undergraduate student to serve as the Administrative Assistant within the Center’s portfolio. We are looking for a collaborative team player who is passionate about enhancing the student experience, engaging with campus climate, and building intentional partnerships with campus offices and stakeholders to share stories and experiences that reflect the richness of our diverse community. This position reports to the Associate Director for Student Equity, Access, and Retention.
Responsibilities:
Provide front desk coverage by greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Assist with program implementation.
Manage calendars and schedule appointments, meetings, and conference calls.
Prepare and process correspondence, reports, and presentations as needed.
Maintain office supplies and inventory, ensuring that materials are stocked and readily available.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries.
Assist with office organization and filing, ensuring easy access to documents and information.
Perform data entry, manage databases, and assist with record-keeping.
Support team with general administrative tasks, including photocopying, scanning, and organizing.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Help with event planning and office activities as needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-Time.
10 hours per week.
This is an in person (non-hybrid) position.
Salary Range:
$17.95 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
The role is open to current full-time AU students.
UG Positions are open to all Undergraduate students with Federal Work Study.
All students must be enrolled in an American University degree program for the academic year. As a note, there are no tuition benefits available for this position.
Candidates must have a strong understanding of various AU platforms for planning, advertising, and promoting CDI signature events, as well as experience or interest in facilitating dialogues and programming that foster meaningful engagement within the campus community.
Proven experience as an administrative assistant or in a related role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with office equipment (printers, fax machines, etc.).
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
