Job Details:

Purpose

Reporting to the Senior HR Coordinator, the HR Assistant will support daily functions, processes, and transactions related to student, staff, and faculty employees in the Moody College of Communication. A successful candidate in this position will exhibit exceptional customer service and have a growth mindset to build a solid foundation of HR knowledge for future development.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all aspects of hourly student employee onboarding for the Office of the Dean and Business and Technology Services (BATS), including overseeing new hire paperwork, background checks, employment eligibility, and coordination with supervisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of timesheets within established requirements and deadlines. May hire and supervise the office work study students supporting the Office of the Dean and BATS.

  • Act as a student worker subject matter expert, provide high-level expertise to others throughout the College, monitor Workday tasks, and process student appointments that route to the Dean’s Office.

  • Assist with Workday actions related to recruitment, I-9s, timekeeping, absence management, accrual payouts, and other payments for staff and faculty.

  • Accurately maintain HR data including supervisory organizations, organizational charts, and prepared reports related to staffing.

  • Answer common questions related to policies and procedures and partner as needed with Human Resources Services, Payroll Services, International Student and Scholar Services, Employee Assistance Programs, and other University and Moody units.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Two years of work experience in HR functions and/or administrative support.

  • Knowledge of HR processes and best practices.

  • Highly proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to share information effectively.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Must be able to effectively multi-task, prioritize tasks, and accurately follow procedures and policies while maintaining excellent organizational skills and providing a high level of customer service.

  • Effectively work independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated skillset working with sensitive information while maintaining confidential information, records, and files.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework in business or HR.

  • Three or more years of experience in human resources. 

  • Experience with Workday and other UT systems.

  • Experience with student employment, particularly at UT.

  • Demonstrated experience navigating confidential employee relations concerns.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel. 

Salary Range

$40,000 - $43,000

Working Conditions

Standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Work Shift

The position is a combination of working on campus and working remotely, with a flexible work agreement approved by the supervisor. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
