Mission for Position
The Infusion RN will deliver exceptional, compassionate, and individualized care to every patient, every day—upholding Lakewood Health System’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and person-centered service. As a vital member of the Oncology & Infusion team, this RN will bring positivity and purpose to each interaction—supporting patients and their families through complex treatments with clinical excellence and heartfelt connection. Rooted in teamwork and guided by our shared mission, the Infusion RN plays a key role in ensuring every patient feels seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
Duties & Responsibilities
As an Infusion RN, you’ll be a vital part of delivering safe, expert, and compassionate care—providing life-changing therapies to patients in a dynamic and deeply rewarding environment. In this role, you will:
- Perform Comprehensive Assessments: Evaluate patients before, during, and after treatment—monitoring vital signs, assessing response to therapy, and identifying potential complications early.
- Manage Infusion Access: Insert, maintain, and monitor peripheral and central lines with precision and care, following best practices and evidence-based protocols to ensure safe, effective therapy.
- Administer Chemotherapy, Biotherapy, and Immunotherapy: Safely prepare and deliver complex infusion treatments in alignment with provider orders, ONS guidelines, and institutional protocols—ensuring the highest standards of patient safety.
- Educate & Empower Patients and Families: Provide clear, compassionate education on therapies, potential side effects, self-care techniques, and what to expect—helping patients feel informed, prepared, and supported.
- Lead in Symptom Management: Assess and manage treatment-related symptoms and side effects, administering supportive medications and comfort measures in collaboration with the broader care team.
