Akron General’s 9100 Neuroscience Unit is a private 22-bed unit that cares for patients who suffer from strokes, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries), spinal cord injuries, and s/p craniotomy (after staying in NSICU).
A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday night shift from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide nursing care based on patient-centered outcomes and standards of care based on current research and evidence-based practice.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Safely administer patient care and treatments in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy.
Safely administer medications in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice and institutional policy
Involve the patient and family (or designee) in developing a plan of care individualized to patient cultural, religious and educational needs.
Participate in on-going interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and contribute to the improvement of care.
Obtain the National Institute of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale Certification and complete yearly stroke-related education.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
