The Role

Provide administrative and paralegal support for Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Association General Counsel to USTA and General Counsel to the USTA Foundation, USTA Counsel, and as otherwise needed by the USTA Legal Department.

  • Maintains and/or creates files for record-keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files, and retrieves documents or other materials.
  • Administrative tasks, including but not limited to expense reports, calendaring schedules and appointments, meeting and committee material preparations, and minute-taking.
  • Making Travel arrangements and maintaining the calendars.
  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and distributing agreements for (i) the Finance division; (ii) the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion division; (iii) the USTA Shared Services division; (iv) the USTA Westchester and Times Square Office Building Operations division; and (v) the USTA Foundation.
  • Conduct legal research for designated projects.
  • Manage the annual Insurance renewals for the various corporations, including interaction with the business units and the broker to complete the annual applications.
  • Administer and manage a system of tracking requests to secure and provide annual Certificates of Insurance.
  • Maintain and manage the annual charitable filings for the USTA Foundation in all 50 states, including reviewing the annual applications and ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Provide support to the notice process for the nomination and election of new Board Members (USTA and Foundation), as well as new members of the Nominating Committee and the election of the Elite Athlete and Representative to the USOPC AC and the USTA AAC.
  • Process incoming subpoenas or requests for information, including gathering requested information and preparing a formal response.
  • Maintaining case files, including litigation files, general files, and tracking and indexing waivers.
    • Provide back-up to the Senior Director of Legal Records, utilizing the internal document management system.
  • Track and maintain Continuing Legal Education and attorney registrations for Deputy Chief Legal Officer and Associate General Counsel to USTA and General Counsel to the USTA Foundation.
  • Provide Notarial services when requested.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Position is considered non-exempt (overtime eligible)
  • Position will be based in the New York City (Times Square) office, with travel to other NY offices (Westchester, Queens) as needed
    • Designated as "hybrid/flex" and allows for both remote and on-site work (3 days onsite, 2 remote). Any such position must meet the USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time. Please consult HR for the most current policy.

Who You Are

  • 6 years of paralegal experience working in a legal department in a corporate or law firm environment, preferably within the sports or entertainment industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred with extensive experience in drafting contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
  • Exceptional organization skills with strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills with attention to detail. Strong computer skills, including command of MS Office and Outlook, Google Docs, and other Google programs as used by USTA staff.
  • Has the ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • A team player who is not afraid to roll up his/her sleeves to get the job done.
  • Flexible to work overtime as needed.
