So, what will you be doing as a Department Superintendent?

  • Identify and stop further processing of non-conformances related to products, processes, or the quality systems.
  • Take action to prevent non-conformities related to the product produced, services provided or the ISO 9001:2015 management system.
  • Make suggestions for improvement and verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Know the location of and understand their control plans, work instructions and specifications.
  • Reports to General Superintendent and work schedule is Mon - Thur 4:30am - 3:30pm CST 
  • Will work closely and have duties in the following areas:

 

SAFETY

  • Understand how all equipment functions.
  • Attends to any injured employee and ensures they receive any medical attention required.
  • Must be able to administer safety, emergency and environmental policies.
  • Must strive for continuous cost reductions in all areas of responsibility.
  • Make sure inside and outside of plant is clean and organized.
  • Work to help ensure a safe workplace for everyone.
  • Must know and be responsible for MSDS, blood borne pathogen, hearing conservation, OSHA standards, environmental and hazardous material programs, and other personnel programs.
  • Must know and be responsible for proper procedures for accident reporting, methods and investigation.

 

QUALITY

  • Ensure that quality check stations are maintained and in order.
  • Ensure supervisors and employees follow all quality programs to produce the best quality possible.
  • Ensure new employees get proper training.

 

PRODUCTION

  • Oversee and work with production supervisors to solve work and personnel problems.
  • Ensure people in departments are working at highest efficiency potential.
  • Work to solve problems in troubled area of their department related to materials, methods, procedures, packaging, storage, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of product specifications in their department.
  • Monitor department product flow.
  • Monitor special work/sale orders.
  • Ensure production notices are posted in a timely manner.
  • Monitor scheduling of overtime as needed.
  • Ensure plant and parts room security on weekends.
  • Set daily goals for production supervisors.
  • Have periodic meeting with production supervisors.
  • Responsible for the direction of Production Supervisors and department employees.
  • Has a general understanding of all machine in department and priority.
  • Stress the importance of safety.
  • Do periodic quality checks to make sure employees are making a quality product.
  • Use continuous improvement tools to help solve problems with safety, quality, production, or employee morale.
  • Notify the Inventory Manager if getting low on raw materials.
  • Keep Safety Director updated on any problem areas.
  • Report accidents as soon as they happen.
  • Keep in touch with the Human Resources Managers on job openings.
