About This Role

Join The Dow Chemical Company as a TS&D/R&D Technician in our Energy R&D–Exploration and Production/Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) team. As part of the broader DIS organization—a diverse business serving 17 market segments with 20 technological platforms, you will help drive initiatives in safer materials, resource efficiency, carbon reduction, and the circular economy. The Industrial Solutions Energy Platform is a fast-growing, market-facing segment that leverages customized chemistries and engineering solutions to enhance upstream and downstream processes.

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will:
  • Collaborate with R&D and TS&D scientists, technicians, and technologists to evaluate, develop, scale up, and commercialize new products across EOR technology platforms.
  • Exchange technical information with team members and actively contribute to process improvement discussions with key stakeholders, using analytical and scientific methods
  • Demonstrate strong technical focus, analytical acumen, and a safety-first mindset while communicating issues promptly to leaders or lead scientists to accelerate problem resolution.
  • Deliver high-quality data, support customer needs, and continuously improve laboratory efficiency.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring accurate measurements and reliable performance.
  • Prepare and perform standard and non-routine procedures, including sample preparation, formulation development, equipment setup, and proper waste disposal.
  • Troubleshoot and repair laboratory equipment as needed (experience with interfacial testing, liquid chromatography, and cloud point equipment preferred).
  • Develop experimental plans for review and approval, executing both routine and complex tasks.
  • Participate in team meetings focused on safety, process improvement, and problem solving.
  • Initiate Dow Management of Change (MOC) process as needed to ensure safe and reliable equipment use.
  • Work in accordance with facility and site Environmental Health & Safety policies.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent AND 3+ years of laboratory or manufacturing experience OR A minimum associates degree in Process Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or similar technology related area is required. 
  • Ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research, wet chemistry formulation development, analytical laboratory, or pilot plant utilizing surfactants solvents and high-pressure/high-temperature equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer software for planning, analyzing, evaluating, and documenting lab experiments and data (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, LabView and Siemens experience preferred).

Physical Demands

  • You must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Wear personal protective equipment, including lab coat, goggles, and gloves.
  • Work for extended periods in a laboratory, including standing, bending, reaching, and lifting activities.
  • Confidently and safely move up to 50 pounds (e.g., positioning and configuring laboratory equipment such as pumps, vessels, and instruments).
