Job Summary:

The Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship prepares surgeons for careers in academic or private practice by providing comprehensive clinical, surgical, and research training. Fellows gain experience at CU Anschutz and affiliated hospitals under the guidance of dedicated faculty.
Key Fellowship Components:
• Rotations and Clinical Experience:
· Experiences in breast imaging, medical and radiation oncology, pathology, plastic surgery, genetics, psycho-oncology, and rehabilitation
· Supervision is initially direct with graded autonomy in clinic and OR
· Assist with teaching residents and medical students
• Didactics, Conferences, & Program Director Meetings:
· Orientation and structured educational sessions
· Case presentations and weekly lectures
· Monthly mentorship meetings with Program Director
• Research Expectations & Scholarly Development:
· Critically review and evaluate new research
· Participate in quality improvement initiatives
· Present at national meetings and produce manuscripts
· Develop communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
• Patient Care Skills:
Perform general and disease-specific history and physical exams
Counsel patients and obtain informed consent
Manage surgical complications and complex clinical decision-making
By integrating clinical experience, operative training, and research, the fellowship ensures graduates are prepared for independent practice and leadership in Breast Surgical Oncology.
Work Location:
Clinical rotations will occur at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, UCHealth Cherry Creek Medical Center and Denver Health (optional) in Denver, CO, and UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital in Highlands Ranch, CO.
