This advertisement is for a Career Service position at Suwannee Correctional Institution in the Office of Health Services. Suwannee CI is nestled in the bend of the famous Suwannee River, with towering oak trees, plentiful State Parks, and historic sites to explore, it is a nature lovers paradise. Appointment Salary: $102,572.08 annually - Licensed psychologist
$96,873.66 annually - Non-Licensed Doctorate Level
SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Florida Department of Corrections is the largest mental health provider in the State provides mental health treatment to Inmates including Inpatient services at 7 institutions throughout the State. A Regional Mental Health Ombudsman (RMHO) is assigned to each of these Institutions and are an integral part of the Office of Health Services -Mental Health providing consultancy and advocacy services to Inpatient Mental Health units located throughout the State. Each Inpatient unit has 1 RMHO who reports to the Central Office Ombudsman. The incumbent will:
- Become a subject matter expert regarding the procedure and HSB’s that guide treatment for inmates housed in Inpatient and the RCC.
- Provide assistance to the Institution Warden through weekly meetings to discuss your observations.
- Provide assistance to contracted mental health provider staff regarding procedures.
- Review and aid the Central Office Mental Health Ombudsman and wardens (or their designee) in addressing formal grievances from inmates residing in inpatients mental health units.
- Proactively identify issues and concerns pertinent to access to necessary mental health treatment in the inpatient units.
- Provides management consultant services and assistance to state agencies to improve management capabilities and operational procedures.
- Helps agency officials and their staffs to promote the most efficient and effective accomplishment of the operating objectives at the lowest cost.
- Provides status reports to the Central Office Mental Health Ombudsman and Wardens to assist in analysis and amelioration of identified concerns.
- Conducts weekly rounds in the inpatient units to check the wellbeing of inmates in their cell or out in the quad.
- Attends and observes mental health services being offered to the inmates.
- Observes and shadows other services provided to inmates on the inpatient units.
- Provides on-site reviews of mental health services and out-of-cell structured therapeutic services in inpatient mental health units.
- Reviews formal grievances, as needed, from inmates residing in inpatient mental health units.
