About the role

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Manage a Fire and Emergency Services (F & ES) program (e.g., explosive chemical surety, hazardous materials, aircraft and structural biological agents, weapons of mass destruction) for an organization; develops, instructs, and participates in training sessions formal and practical, lectures, computer based, demonstrations and drills for all phases of operations; perform on scene surveys to implement initial hazardous materials mitigation actions; and prepare inspection reports to brief fire investigations finding of fire safety deficiencies to senior leaders. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: You will be required to participate in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program. You will be required to maintain compliance with NFPA 1582 (Fire Fighter Physical Medical Evaluations), NFPA 1583 (Fire Fighter Fitness Program Requirements. You will be required to participate in the mandatory F&ESD Physical Fitness Program to maintain a level and degree of fitness needed to perform all duties. You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, and Fire Instructor I by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard. You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Hazardous Materials Incident Commander. You will be required to possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. You must possess a current National Registry or State Certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Hazardous Material Awareness, Hazardous Material Operations, and Hazardous Materials Technician AND Incident commander.
