Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company
As a key member of the Revenue accounting team, this role is crucial in overseeing general accounting operations. This highly collaborative position requires working closely with various teams to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting operations, a proven ability to design and implement efficient processes, and general understanding of technical accounting. Additionally, they will excel in leading and developing a high-performing team. This role reports directly to the Director of Revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide, mentor and manage team members.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP requirements and SOX controls.
- Drive continuous scalability, automation and efficiency through collaboration with our finance systems and accounting transformation teams
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with other departments, such as Customer Success, Legal, Product, Sales, FP&A, Accounting, Treasury and Tax.
- Provide input on structuring customer and partner arrangements.
- Review customer and partner arrangements for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.
- Stay current on new accounting rules, including ASC 606, ASC 310 and ASC 326, and oversee the drafting of policies and technical accounting memos
- Review revenue and other balance sheet account reconciliations and approve journal entries, as needed.
- Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls, and recommending efficiency improvements.
- Liaison with external and internal auditors, along with supporting documentation for the quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
We’d love to chat if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in a combination of public accounting (top tier) and publicly traded company or financial technology company with heavy involvement in auditing and performing SOX controls.
- Experience managing and developing individuals with an ability to influence, train, mentor and leverage the skills of others to achieve objectives.
- Experience in the payments technology industry would be a plus.
- Polished communication skills, including an ability to listen to the needs of the business units, research and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and simplified manner, and present findings and recommendations in both oral and written presentations.
- CPA is required.
- Strong background in accounting operations and/or technical accounting.
- Track record of building out new processes and process improvements.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration.
- The ability to deal with rapidly changing internal and external environments.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, priorities and complete objectives on time.
